EU Code of Conduct for AI: Voluntary - but trend-setting

The new EU Code of Conduct for AI providers is intended to specify the requirements of the AI Regulation for general purpose AI models (GPAI) - and make implementation easier for the companies concerned. It provides a clear framework for meeting the requirements of the AI Act.

Core areas of the Code

The Code focuses primarily on three core areas:

  • Transparency,
  • Copyrights and
  • Safety and security.

It provides specific technical assistance and guidance, for example on the scope of the regulations for GPAI models. At the same time, key points remain open: for example, the transparency of training data remains vague and the topic of sanctions is completely omitted.

What does the AI Code mean for companies?

Even if the code is formally voluntary, it creates important guidelines for compliance, risk management and legally compliant implementation. Those who act early not only ensure legal certainty, but also trustworthiness and competitive advantages.

What else needs to be considered with the AI Code

In the event of non-compliance with the Code, providers must demonstrate how they comply with the AI Act.

Recommendation for action - take action now:

With a structured documentation process, coordinated training measures and established risk management, companies can consciously use the Code as a compliance framework - and at the same time strengthen innovation and trustworthiness.
